Free IPMAT mocks exist and are worth taking, but they have one limitation that matters: no reliable All-India percentile. Most coaching institutes give one or two free mocks as a sample from a paid series — take all of them, from different institutes, then buy one proper proctored series (₹1,500–4,000) for the benchmark. The number of mocks you analyse, not how many you sit, is what moves your score.
Mocks are the one part of IPMAT preparation that self-study cannot fully replace, because what you are buying is not questions — it is where you stand.

A sensible mock strategy #
Step 1: Collect every free mock available #
Sign up across several institutes. Five or six free mocks from different sources is a realistic haul and costs nothing.
Step 2: Buy one proctored series, early #
The percentile benchmark is the point. Buying it in the last month wastes most of its value.
Step 3: Take 8–12 full-length mocks minimum #
This is the number that shows up consistently among candidates who clear. Fewer than six is where preparation usually falls short.
Step 4: Spend as long analysing as attempting #
Two hours on the mock, two hours on the review. Classify every wrong answer: concept gap, calculation slip, misread, or time pressure. Only the first needs studying.
- Verify the mock includes short-answer questions if you are targeting IIM Indore. Many generic aptitude mocks are MCQ-only, which trains the wrong reflex.
- Take mocks at the actual exam time of day. Your accuracy at 10 a.m. is not your accuracy at 11 p.m.
- A dropping mock score mid-preparation is normal — you are attempting more questions. Track accuracy alongside score.
