JEE Main previous year papers are the most accurate guide to the exam that exists — more accurate than any syllabus list, because NTA's emphasis differs from the notified syllabus. Work the last 8–10 years, and treat the post-2021 papers as the reference set, since the pattern changed when numerical questions gained negative marking. Attempt them on a computer, not on paper: the interface is part of what you are training.

Because JEE Main runs many shifts per session, each year yields a dozen or more distinct papers. There is no shortage of material; the constraint is how many you analyse properly.
Attempt them the way the exam runs #
Step 1: Use a computer, with a basic on-screen calculator #
The real exam is a CBT. Practising on paper trains the wrong motor habits and hides how slow the on-screen calculator is.
Step 2: Three hours, one sitting, no pauses #
Shift timings matter too. If your exam is the morning shift, practise in the morning.
Step 3: Score with negative marking on numericals #
Since numerical questions started carrying −1, papers scored under the old rules flatter you.
Step 4: Tag every error by chapter and by type #
Build a running tally. After five papers, your weakest chapters are statistically obvious rather than a matter of feeling.
- Analyse shift variation. Comparing your score across an easy and a hard shift teaches you not to panic at a difficult paper — everyone in that shift faces it, and percentile protects you.
- Redo wrong questions two weeks later, untimed, to separate concept gaps from time pressure.
- Maths is where past papers pay most: question types recur closely year to year.
- Keep two recent papers unseen for the final fortnight.
